Worcester Police arrested three men yesterday in what police are saying was a double homicide resulting from a drug deal gone bad. The arrests were made in less than 24 hours after two men were gunned down in a parked car outside an apartment building on the corner of Crown and Austin streets.
Two Worcester men, Michael Wood, 21, and Bobby Tran, 19, both of 913 Main Street, along with Marcus Hayes, 24, of 31 Benes Lane, Northbridge, were arrested yesterday and all charged with two counts of murder and a slew of other charges.
Police responded to several 911 calls reporting gunshots at the apartment building around 3:16 a.m. Sunday and found two victims, ages 20 and 21, suffering from gunshot wounds. UMass Memorial paramedics transported the two men to area hospitals where both men were pronounced dead. Police have identified the victims as Victor Estrella, 20, of Fay Road, Framingham, and Moises Nazario, 21, of Goddard Memorial Drive, Worcester.
Police report there were also two females in the car at the time of the shooting, but that they were not shot.
Investigators at the scene early yesterday combed over a silver Nissan Sentra with New York Plates that had at least two windows shot out. A pool of blood and broken glass littered the parking lot pavement. The vehicle was removed to the Worcester Police Department headquarters.
The three suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in Worcester County District Court today. All three are charged with possession of a stun gun, two counts of murder, three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm and ammunition without an FID card, carrying a loaded rifle/shotgun on a public way, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, conspiracy and conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws.
