It’s been nearly five months since Alex Scesny was named a “person of interest” in the 1996 murder of Theresa Stone of Fitchburg. No more. The Worcester County DA’s office has charged Scesny in the rape and murder of Stone, a murder that they believe is connected with the murder of five other female prostitutes since 1996 who worked the Main South area of Worcester.

After two full days of deliberating, the jury in the Scesny case will be entering day three tomorrow. At just before 4 p.m., the court came back into session to address two questions asked by the jury. The first was a request for a flip chart to use in their deliberations and the second question was what would happen if they couldn’t come to an agreement today since one of the juror’s was scheduled to take a 10 a.m. flight the next morning. It’s the second day of jury deliberations on the Scesny trial and it’s now clear this is no quick and easy decision for this panel. The question now is will deliberations carry over into a third day or can this jury reach a unanimous verdict by day’s end?

You never can tell what a jury will do. Following closing arguments at the Alex Scesny rape trial today the word outside the courtroom was we were in for a quick verdict.
